Supervision
In my supervisory approach, I take a holistic, collaborative stance that integrates psychodynamic therapy, multiculturalism, social justice, and evidence-based skills like CBT and DBT. I believe that supervision should be an interactive, reflective process where supervisees are encouraged to explore their own identities and consider how these identities shape their interactions with clients. I emphasize the importance of understanding countertransference and transference as essential components of the therapeutic relationship, encouraging supervisees to reflect on how these dynamics influence both their practice and their connection with clients.
At the heart of my supervision is a commitment to multicultural awareness and social justice, helping supervisees recognize and address issues of power, privilege, and oppression within therapy. This includes examining how cultural and societal contexts impact both the client and therapist. I also emphasize the integration of CBT and DBT skills, ensuring that supervisees feel confident in using these techniques while remaining mindful of the therapeutic relationship and the client’s broader social and psychological context. Ultimately, my supervisory style is about fostering an open, supportive environment where supervisees feel empowered to grow, reflect, and develop a practice that is both effective and ethically grounded.
